What EUDR is, in plain English
The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) requires companies placing commodities such as coffee, rubber, cocoa and timber on the EU market — the "operators" — to prove two things: that the product comes from land that has not been deforested after 31 December 2020, and exactly where that land is. That means precise geolocation data for every plot of origin, submitted by the operator as part of their due-diligence statement.
For an exporter, the practical question is simple: can you hand your European buyer accurate plot boundaries and evidence that those plots were not deforested after the cutoff date? That is the data we provide.
Our role: data and verification
Naav is a data and verification provider. We collect geolocation data for your plots — boundary polygons surveyed on the ground — process it, and check each plot against satellite imagery for deforestation after the 31 December 2020 cutoff. We then deliver the results in the formats the EU operator needs for their own due-diligence statement.
We do not certify products, approve shipments or submit anything to the EU. The due-diligence statement is the EU operator's own legal responsibility; we supply the accurate data and verification that stands behind it.
